I don't really care because I'm perfectly fine sinking all my points into strength and weapon attribute, but when did tactics turn into such crap?

I remember a time when strength was thought of as the worst primary attribute in the game, and tactics was awesome. Oh how the tides have turned... does anyone use tactics other than the occasional Mo/W?

We didn't notice at the time, but SY! killed WY! and HealSig got killed when Lion's Comfort was changed to scale with Str only. When WY! got nerfed was when we actually figured it out.

The tactics line, outside of a PvE runner bar w/ charge in the proph days, has pretty much always been crap outside of heal sig in the early days. The nerf to WY! was the final nail in its coffin.

Basically it wasn't great to begin with and it got worse as other classes came about and started abusing the line.

It has always been crap, its just that strength was buffed and then people turned away from it even more. I remember the good ol days when everyone ran builds with glad's defense though

lol my main character (warrior) uses tactis and glads defense and it works amazing in all kinds of PVE. dont do too much PVP tho so thats a diff story. idk why people dont like it in pve, i use it and love it. works great for me

Oh yea, I remember the time when I was so happy with glad's defense and used it a lot, then stopped using it when the active time got cut. I have to admit I myself barely use tactics nowadays, but I think it still has some pretty nice skills for warriors to use.

Because it really isn't that good. Gladiator's defense is a horrible skill to use in general PvE, the damage is pretty bad. Sure, it may work, but pretty much anything works in PvE. You can use bad skills/builds and win, or you can use good skills/builds and win faster.

Anyways, agree with Yichi. It's pretty much always been less than mediocre, buffing lion's comfort made it much better than healing signet, and nerfing WY killed it (even though WY was vastly inferior to SY). The shouts are bad, the attack skills are bad, and the stances are pretty useless.

[flashing blades] is better than glads. It lasts longer and it works at a distance.

Dwarven stability makes Glads defence slightly less crappy in niche farms I guess. Still sucks though.

[warrior's endurance] and [power attack] are in strength, tactics' direct rival. tactics has some hard counters to strength like [gladiator's defense] but ever since they added [wild blow] to the game all stances suck, even glads.

Also, since PvE is pretty much a joke now due to stupid PvE skills, there really isn't much point to putting 9 points into a defensive attribute. If something is threatening, just drop it - the new defensive tactics in PvE.

I started playing GW in January 2006, and I have absolutely hated Tactics since I left Pre-Searing.

A Self-Heal that (even after the Healing was buffed) makes you take double damage for the 2 second casting time. No thank you.

Blocking Stances that take up skillslots that can be better used for increased DPS, not to mention the fact that my Monk buddies usually pack at bare minimum [[Guardian], and if they are really pimp like to drop [[Aegis (PvE)] chains. No thank you.

[Power [email protected]] [Warrior's [email protected]] [Body [email protected]]. Yes, please.

The ONLY thing that Tactics has ever had going for it, imho, is the Summit Warlord Shield. Period.

That being said, I want ANet to release a Strength version of the Summit Warlord Shield (that isn't Reefclaw's Refuge, tyvm). NAO dammit. This is not open for negotiation.

EDIT:

Wait, I just remembered one other thing that Tactics was kinda useful for. The FoW Book Trick. Wammo picks up the Book, Tactics-stance Tanks while everything aggros on him/her and ignores the other 7 party members. FoW cleared. That got Grand Slam'd with the Nerf-Bat, though.

Pretty all of the good stuff in tactics got nerfed. Fear Me! was one of the best general purpose e-denial in the game, ViM kinda fun for some gimmicks and of course, WY.

[Watch Yourself!] died due to the Armor-stacking cap, the Nerf-bat that dictated that it ended after so many attacks, and the addition of [Save Yourselves!].

[Fear Me!] was great e-denial, not going to argue that, but in PvE, e-denial is just "Meh" considering you aren't going to deny enough using FM! to make a dent AoE-wise, and a Mez is going to be superior @ single-target e-denial/disruption. Plus, [Earth Shaker] is much better. Why go for AoE e-denial when you can get virtual e-denial effects by constant AoE KD, with the added benefit that AoE KD is also real damage nullification?

Diamond Aegis? Too small. Too glittery. That is in regards to my Warrior. Male. Big. Beefy. He doesn't want a Diamond Aegis, though some of the smaller female Warrs might, so why not?

Diamond Aegis (for the ladies, and mebbe the shorter guys; Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, after all) and Summit Warlord Shield in Strength. NAO.

Diamond Aegis does come in a strength requirement, you are just going to have to save up for a canthan one.

Stupid Diamond, Gothic Defenders and Echovald shields ... think they're better than everything else...grumble.
